Photographed in Cuba during the final weeks of 2016, The Night Fidel Left reflects a country suspended between memory and uncertainty. During the month the photographs were made, Fidel Castro died and Donald Trump was elected president of the United States — two events that quietly shaped the atmosphere surrounding the work. Rather than documenting politics directly, the project observes fragments of everyday life, silence and transition during a moment when history seemed to shift beneath the surface.
