Created in and around South Luangwa, Zambia during a period of prolonged drought, Carried by Water observes how water quietly shapes everyday life. Villages, families, wildlife and daily routines all exist in relation to its presence — or absence.
Rather than focusing on spectacle or crisis, the project follows small human moments: children carrying water, women gathering at sunset, meals being prepared, animals moving through the same dry landscape. Water becomes both a necessity and a fragile connection between people, community and nature.
The photographs were made slowly and in close contact with the people portrayed, seeking not only hardship, but also dignity, resilience and moments of warmth within an increasingly fragile environment.
